Welcome to the unofficial website of the 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, Recaro
Edition, which happens to be my "dream car." If it's true what they say
about America's love affair with the automobile, well then this is my
little crush. I really like everything about this car (except how hard
they are to find in original condition). I think it's a great combination
of form and function in every way I can think of. It's weird because I'm
not necessarily a huge sports car fan in general; I like all kinds of
cars, but if I had to choose one car for the rest of my life, it would be
this one. In early 2001 I spotted a super low miler on AutoTrader and knew I couldn't live
without it. At the time I was broke but my sister helped me secure the
car, for which I'll always be grateful. We towed it from NY to NC, over
time I repaid the loan, and the rest is history.

Some of the pages on this website currently have incomplete or
incorrect information, so use at your own risk. I'm constantly looking out
for verified info so I can make this site as complete as possible. I've
also been offline from 2003 to 2008 so things have gotten sort of dusty
around here.

If you have a Recaro T/A for sale or know someone who does, please post
about it in the messageboards. Personally I'm also
looking for a survivor set of the gold-paint N89 aluminum wheels, so
anyone with any pointers can email me if they so desire. My email address
is -- gtziavelis@gmail.com.
Thanks.

While I'm a huge enthusiast of these cars and they get my motors
running, so to speak, I am neither an expert nor a mechanic, so I may or
may not be able to answer your questions. The F.A.Q. is a great place to start though.

09/26/2009: Error-correction and optimization of History page. Addition of "Saving Pontiac" banner, at least temporarily.

06/15/2008: Added car #25 with 36 pictures.

06/11/2008: Animated "favicon" replaced old one. I don't know if it works in all browsers, but it works on mine, Firefox 2.

06/05/2008: Gold-ified stray white text on various pages. Entire site should have the same color now.

04/24/2008: Added car #24 with 3 pictures.

04/26/2008: Changed website font from white to #E7AD52, which is the html color code I settled on a long time ago as my version of gold, for online purposes. By the way, for those of you using Firefox on a Windows machine, if the font on this website is too small for you, hold down "Ctrl" and hit the "+" button on your number pad a few times to enlarge the font. To decrease font size, use "Ctrl" and "-" on the number pad. For other browsers or operating systems, this may or may not work. I'm sure there's a similar shortcut. Also fixed some bugs on the random pic page.

04/24/2008: Added car #23 with 35 pictures.

04/19/2008: Messageboards back up.

03/21/2008: Car #1 received new pic of seats and color info from 1982 documentation.

03/03/2008: Obviously our messageboard was hacked quite a while back, and I did not see it at the time, so the whole database was wiped out, as far as I know, and I did not have a backup. I'm sorry to all you who posted here, all 370+ of you. We were building up quite a treasure trove of information.

07/25/2004: Rare update to my own page. Hey take it or leave it :P

07/03/2003: All good things must come to an end, right? Just like this website. I don't really have the time to update it right now. Those of you that have emailed me since April 2003-- I'm sorry but I haven't had time to answer your email. Not to worry though.. it's not necessarily the end; just a hiatus maybe. The site will be up for the foreseeable future. Back whenever..

12/11/2002: Added vBulletin in place of UBB.

09/10/2002: Added favicon.ico of black eagle on gold background.

09/06/2002: Have a few cars to add and some pics to add to existing cars. Just haven't gotten to it yet; .. bear with me. Also working on a possible upload system where people can add their own cars. Still in very early stages; may not work out at all.

08/05/2002: Added 1 more picture to car #3's page.

07/14/2002: Removed useless "Buy Stuff" link. Nobody ever used it and I'm not even sure if it's legal for me to offer items with GM logos on 'em.

07/04/2002: There was a new 82 Recaro on eBay recently which I am adding soon.

07/04/2002: Finally getting around to updating the activity log page which hadn't been touched since February. Also a while back I stopped listing all the hits because A) they're not an actual hit count, just a page view count, B) the hit count is more accurate but not easily extracted from the logs, C) I was doing it manually each time, and it got to the point where I had to add a new entry every day, D) nobody but me really gave a crap anyway! I like stats but when they're a pain in the ass that sort of outweighs any limited usefulness they may have actually had.

04/23/2002: Added car #22 with 9 pictures.

03/08/2002: Added 4 more pictures to car #20's page.

01/28/2002: Added Buy Stuff link. If it works I'll keep it, and if not, I won't.

11/25/2001: Added 5 new pictures to car #13's page.

11/05/2001: Added car #17 with one picture so far. First car in New Zealand.

11/02/2001: Added all other known cars (cars with very little info and few/bad/no pics) to pictures page.

11/01/2001: October was the 4th record breaking month in a row. 30995 page views, 286712 total hits, and served 3.13 GB of data.

11/01/2001: Car #17 will be going up very soon. It is also the first one confirmed outside of North America!

10/24/2001: Finally updated my own page with records from 10/10 and today.

08/16/2001: Separated cars #11 and #12 into their own pages.

08/10/2001: Added 3 new pictures of car #14 taken recently.

08/04/2001: Thanks to this site being submitted to yahoo.com, July was by far a record breaking month and surpassed even my own expectations. We had 19793 page views, 132,111 total hits, and sent out 1.41 gigabytes of data. The server log analyzer program is predicting that August will be another record breaking month.

08/01/2001: Added FAQ page. It is nowhere near done, but off to a good start.. check it..

07/28/2001: Added car #14 and the one pic I currently have. Not sure if more pics will be possible but will try.

07/25/2001: Added pic #166 under car 13's page.

07/16/2001: The counter on these pages only counts files with HTML extensions and excludes the Message Board area altogether. We are on track for about 95k or 100k total hits this month alone!

07/13/2001: Added 3 new pictures of car #1 (misc shots / promo stuff) from January 28, 1982.

06/03/2001: Added cars #11 & #12. Nothing to get all excited about; these are no longer in their original form.. the engines have been replaced, the paint has been customized, etc.. still pretty interesting to look at though.

05/28/2001: Message Board added! Now let's see if anyone posts to it..
